By June Supports Carmabi with contribution to nature conservation on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – Since November 2024, By June, a provider of small-scale holidays and part of Corendon, has been donating one euro to Carmabi (Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity Foundation) for every passenger it brings to Curaçao. For seventy years, Carmabi has been dedicated to nature management, scientific research, education, and the protection of biodiversity on Curaçao.

With its range of unique and sustainable excursions, By June aims not only to offer its guests a special experience but also to give them the opportunity to make a direct contribution to nature conservation. This partnership has already provided support both financially and through hands-on assistance for Carmabi’s projects in the fields of nature conservation and education.

Last week, this support was put into action: staff from Carmabi, hoteliers of By June, and the Sustainability Manager of Corendon Curaçao jointly harvested young mangrove seedlings in the Curaçao Rif Mangrove Park and planted them in the Seru Largu nature park near the salt flats of Willibrordus.

“Thanks to partnerships like this, we can use our knowledge and expertise to restore and protect vulnerable ecosystems in Curaçao,” said Manfred van Veghel, Director of Carmabi. “Together, we ensure that both nature and the community here benefit in a lasting way.”

Mangroves play a crucial role in protecting the coast against erosion, providing habitats for countless animals, and capturing large amounts of CO₂
