Corendon joins forces with UoC and 2030HUB Caribbean Foundation

WILLEMSTAD - Corendon Curaçao collaborates with the University of Curaçao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez (UoC) and 2030HUB Caribbean Foundation on a public-private partnership (PPP) focused on sustainability. The project applies the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the (Dutch) Caribbean. Within UoC's faculties of Engineering & Sustainable Technology and Finance & Control, the SustainaBUL program has been developed. This program, initiated by 2030HUB, connects students with companies to put sustainability into practice.

This year, SustainaBUL was implemented for the first time in the International Hospitality & Tourism Management program, with Corendon taking the lead. Together with 15 second-year students, Corendon investigated the impact of single-use plastics at Corendon Mangrove Resort and Corendon The Rif Resort. The students identified areas for improvement and made concrete recommendations to reduce plastic pollution. The findings were presented on January 22.

The project results will be discussed at the Student Sustainability Awards on February 11 at UoC. Other companies and organizations participating in SustainaBUL will also be present.

Corendon has been committed to waste reduction in various ways for years, such as keeping the mangroves clean and organizing clean-ups. The company aims to continue contributing to sustainable solutions that benefit the environment and enhance the guest experience. Corendon Curaçao thanks UoC, its lecturers, and program organizers and hopes more companies will join this initiative.
