WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao International Airport (Hato) is urging travelers and the general public to beware of false information being spread through fake social media accounts posing as official airport channels.
The airport management has identified multiple fraudulent Facebook pages that are misrepresenting themselves as official sources of airport communication. These pages have been spreading misleading content that could confuse or alarm the public.
Among the false claims circulating are:
Allegations that the airport is selling lost luggage
A video falsely suggesting that the United States has banned flights to certain Caribbean destinations
A flyer incorrectly claiming that travel agency Satyam Holidays is participating in the CUR Travel Market with the airport’s approval
Curaçao International Airport has clarified that none of these claims are true and that such messages have no connection to the airport’s official operations.
“These are pure disinformation campaigns,” the airport stated, adding that only official communication channels should be trusted.
The airport is asking the public to avoid sharing suspicious content and to report fake pages directly to Facebook.
“Let’s work together to stop the spread of misinformation,” the statement concluded.
For verified updates and official announcements, travelers are advised to follow the airport’s legitimate channels and website.
