Curaçao wants to increase flow of Brazilians with new flight

The Curaçao Tourist Board held a press conference to promote the island on its new direct flight last Friday. Throughout the week, representatives of nine hotels on the island visited the travel agencies in Campinas, Santos, São Paulo, and São José dos Campos, in order to increase knowledge about the destination and leverage sales of the new Divi Divi Airlines flight.

According to Hugo Clarinda, of the CTB, in 2018 there were more than 13 thousand Brazilians on the island, an increase of 25% over the previous year. "Our job now is to get 20% more growth this year and the new flight came to help in the results, as demand for the island has increased," he said.

According to Clarinda, Brazil is a priority market for Curaçao. Besides the increase in demand, Brazilians are the ones that spend the most on the island - an average of US $ 250 per day per person. To increase interest in the destination and flow of Brazilian tourists, the Office of Tourism will invest in training and media activities. There will be roadshows and workshops throughout the country, as well as insertion in TVs, magazines, and newspapers.

Curaçao has, in addition to Divi Divi flights, departing from Guarulhos on Sundays, Avianca flights via Bogota and Copa Airlines via Panama City.
