More tourists, equal hotel occupancy

WILLEMSTAD - More tourists in 2019, but no higher hotel occupancy. This is according to a statement from the Curaçao Hotel and Tourism Association (CHATA), the interest group for the hospitality sector in their annual report.

More and more tourists apparently find their way through for example Airbnb or Booking.com. Hotels and resorts were 72% full on average last year. However, the room rate became slightly more expensive, from 152 to 158 dollars per night.

The figures from CHATA are based on fourteen hotels and resorts, which together account for around 2,500 rooms.
