WILLEMSTAD - The Sandals Royal Resort officially opened on Wednesday and welcomed its first-ever guests. The resort will open nearly two months after its original opening date.  

The original opening date was April 14, but had to be postponed because construction materials were not delivered. The official festive opening of the luxury resort will take place on Friday, when the opening ribbon will also be cut. The press has also been invited.  

Sandals royal Curaçao is the sixteenth Sandals resort in the world and the first in Curaçao. The hotel has 351 rooms and is located on 44 acres of land of the 3,000-acre conservation area of the Santa Barbara Estate.
