Street Art in Saliña: Stim’é, Kuid’é

WILLEMSTAD - The artists Pop Eye and KBTR have recently created a grand artwork in Saliña. On the former shop premises of "Score". Large letters spell out "Curaçao" with an illustration referring to the island on both sides.

The artists are on holiday here and have created this "street art" in gratitude for their hospitable stay on the island.

The artists have also been active in other locations, such as the hotel "Mondi Lodge"; Dynaf, Skatepark Flipside; in the old Ashley Mauricia workshop in Punda and at a family member's home. In addition, in collaboration with Selwyn de Wind, KBTR has made a portrait of four musicians who were part of the music group "Típiko Santa Rosa" which will shortly be 95 years old.

Most artists had their first introduction to the island when they participated in "The Longest Painting" in 2015 at the invitation of artist Ashley Mauricia. During this stay they met the artist PITOPOLO, among others. He has officially arranged the location on Saliña with the property owner.

The four artists received many compliments during the making; honking cars, thumbs up and cheerful cries. They noticed that despite the many fast-food restaurants and trùk'i pans in the immediate vicinity of the painting no trash could be detected. There is also a lot of litter in more places on the island. With all the beautiful things that Curaçao has to offer, they would like to give the residents a little more love to it and, above all, to keep it clean. Hence the added saying: Stim’é, kuid’é.
