SCHIPHOL - Travel organization TUI cancels all winter flights to the sun until mid-March. All snow holidays have also been cancelled. The travel company decided this on Wednesday after a whole day of deliberation at top level.

Other airlines are also cancelling flights. This concerns both tourist flights to the Canary Islands and to the Dutch Caribbean islands.

As of Thursday, these destinations have been changed from yellow (holidays allowed) to orange (no pleasure trips) to get the corona virus under control in the Netherlands faster.

Corendon must also be scrapped due to the tightened government policy. "If everything is orange, we have no other option," says CEO Steven van der Heijden.

According to the ANVR travel organizations, this means that there is in fact nothing left this winter season.
