Chavez ahead of Capriles in the polls but margin is getting narrower

VENEZUELA - President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela is ahead ten points of his rival, Henrique Capriles Radonski, in the forthcoming elections, according to a new poll. This report La Chispa. The results of the survey released yesterday by the Venezuelan opinion research Datanalisis.

According to the poll, about 49 percent plan to vote for Chavez and about 39 percent say they will vote for Capriles.

Luis Vicente Leon, director of opinion research firm, said that the survey showed that about 11 percent have no clear preference for one of the candidates. The survey questioned 1,600 people between August 25 and  September 5.

Active campaign
These recent results show that Capriles votes are on the increase and are coming closer to Chávez. In previous surveys, the differences were larger. This would be the result according to Leon of the active campaign of Capriles. His campaign, in about 260 cities in the country, has a lot of impact.
