WILLEMSTAD – A group that goes by the name “Apollo Group” is interested in building a hospital for Curacao. This group will take care of a major part of the investment needed for the construction; the Government only has to procure for a small part of the total investment. This is according to Dr. Paul de Windt, who is the person of contact for the group on Curacao.

As it is known, the Government of Curacao has, as one of its priorities, the construction of a new hospital. The location will be Niewe Haven were Amstel brewery used to be. The construction has not started because of financial problems the island is coping with. The plans were in advanced stage though and Ballast Nedam was chosen as the contractor for the construction.

Dr. De Windt explained that the group is very well known and they have already built 60 hospitals around the world. From the beginning they only had hospitals in India, but now they have the best hospitals in Africa which has almost the same climate as Curacao. This group wants to expand their wings in the Caribbean by starting in Curacao.
