CITRO start awareness campaign

campaign2014WILLEMSTAD - The Rotary Club and rescue organization CITRO have launched the campaign ‘Enjoy the sea responsibly’. Through this campaign, sea lovers will become aware of the need for safe boating. Last year, a Rotary Club member died after a collision with a pleasure boat.

“With more and more types of vessels (such as more sea- doo's, kayaks, SUP boards), more swimmers, divers, snorkelers, novice and ever younger surfers, sailors, etc., are the chances for unpleasant experiences at sea greatly increased. The message is therefore that everyone who enjoys the sea must behave responsibly by setting a good example,” the organization stressed.

Stickers with the slogan ‘Enjoy the sea responsibly’ on them, accompanied by the emergency number 913, are available at various outlets. They are equipped with a UV coating and are waterproof. These stickers are sold in packages of 5 for 5 guilders per package and are available at boat dealers, surf and diving schools. The proceeds are for the maintenance of CITRO’s boats and sea- doo’s.
