Clean up action over the whole island

WILLEMSTAD - Tires, cans and plastic bottles, the beaches and areas of Curaçao are sometimes full of them. The environment was the last month central in Curaçao. Fundashon Kòrsou Limpi Bunita (FKLB) organized together with various agencies cleanups throughout the island.

Last weekend the FKLB supported a cleaning staff of Coca Cola in the St. Joris Bay. That area collects a lots of dirt that washes ashore from the sea. In total, the staff gathered nearly 7,000 kilos of junk. The 'Curaçao Primary School also did a major clean up at the Maripampoen Beach.

Even children in Curaçao are more aware of the environment. FKLB visited many primary and secondary schools and gave presentations on pollution. The same happened with neighborhood organizations and FKLB focused special attention to residents. FKLB will continue to give information and help with clean ups for the remaining days of September.

FKLB calls on everyone to not wait until the last minute to dispose of the waste, but to do this regularly in a responsible manner. This reduces the amount of waste in the areas that can cause diseases, odors and insects.
