Smith & Nephew receives the BPM sustainability certification
WILLEMSTAD - On March 29, Smith & Nephew Curacao, the Curaçao branch of the multinational company, received as the second company in Curaçao the "Minimum Sustainability Standards" (MSS) certification during the festive celebration in the Industrial Park Brievengat with directors of their parent company.
The MSS certification is an initiative of the Business Platform Environment (BPM) and consists of three levels: caterpillar, cocoon and butterfly. The company must comply with a list of sustainable activities defined by BPM, such as recycling a number of waste streams. The activities are based on "the three P's": people, planet, profit, elements that must be harmoniously combined and lead to the sustainable development of a company. Depending on the number of activities that can be checked, the company qualifies for one of the three levels.
Several other companies in Curaçao have also submitted an MSS certification application and will soon have an "assessment" carried out by an impartial "assessor". Based on the results of this assessment, these companies will also receive a certification.
BPM invites all companies in Curaçao to follow the good example of Smith & Nephew and implement sustainability in their company.
