USFOL Volunteer at Curaçao’s Parke Tropikal Zoo

USFOLWILLEMSTAD, Dutch Caribbean Business – West of the Curaçao International Airport the US Air Force operate a Base from a U.S. Forward Operating Location (USFOL) The base personnel mostly operate AWAC's and transport aircraft.

Forward Operating Locations, play a crucial role in permitting U.S. and allied nation interdiction aircraft to be forward deployed closer to cocaine departure points in the source zone.

To show appreciation for the community that hosts them, members of the USFOL base also engage in activities that contribute to said community's well being.


On 30 January 2013, for example, over 20 personnel from the  Curaçao USFOL volunteered for service at Curaçao’s Parke Tropikal Zoo. They cleared a large field to be converted to a picnic area, filling up an entire shipping container full of debris.

The zoo and the USFOL continue to build a positive working relationship to improve the park, so that it can provide a safe and enjoyable space for the animals and visitors.
