World premiere Tula, The Revolt tomorrow

AMSTERDAM , WILLEMSTAD – Tomorrow it’s the great day for the movie, Tula The Revolt, it’s the world premiere of the movie at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The movie can be watched at the Tropenmuseum (Tropical Museum). Starting July 4, 2013, the movie will be shown in movie theaters in the Netherlands and on July 11 in cinemas in Curacao and Aruba.

The drama, directed by Jeroen Leinders tells the true story of the largest slave revolt on the island of Curaçao in 1795. At that time the island fell under the rule of the Dutch Republic. Central to the film is Tula (Obi Abili), the leader of the rebellion, his people are trying to get freedom peacefully.

The world premiere of the film will be attended by lead actors, Jeroen Krabbe, Derek de Lint and Henriette Tol. The film was largely shot in Curacao.
