Caribbean ICT Road show on Curaçao

girl_computerWILLEMSTAD - Bureau Telecommunications and Post ( BTP ) , in cooperation with the Caribbean Telecommunications Union ( CTU) will hold a Caribbean ICT Roadshow and an Internet Governance Forum from Monday 9 to Wednesday, September 11, 2013.

This international conference will be held at the World Trade Center ( WTC ) in Curaçao . The theme is: Harnessing the Power of Innovation - the engine for ICT -enabled development .

The Caribbean Roadshow is for the whole Caribbean area. It promotes the use of all the opportunities that Information & Communication Technology ( ICT) provides for further development of governments, businesses and citizens. This is the second time that the Caribbean ICT Roadshow is organized in Curacao. The first time was in 2009. The event fits perfectly with the central theme of the conference in Curaçao this year namely show the transformative power of ICT to the overall objective of the Roadshow , for developing a knowledge-based economy and society in the Caribbean .

There are about 150 local and international participants expected from all sectors of society to enjoy the program which was specially prepared for them. On these days , participants will be able to obtain comprehensive information and exchange in the field of ICT .

The Internet Government Forum is aimed at managers and other decision makers .


The program for the three days is built up of a number of sub- programs, also referred to as tracks. Examples include E -Commerce , E - Health , e -Government , e - Education , cyber security and social media . There are also workshops for youth and disabled.


Both local and international speakers such as Raj Goel , Roy Osinga , Leon Williams , Bob Hofman , Jan van Rees , John Brooks and Joe Weinman will give presentations including the following themes : Skills of the 21st century , Telecommunications & Fraud , Highlights from the Telecommunications and ICT policies , Fashion Technological Equipment , Tips and forms of ICT .
