12.000 tourists from Suriname in Curacao

SurinameWILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) held an information session in Suriname last Saturday. According to the CTB representative in Suriname, Jeannine de Windt, it is important that people from Curaçao come to Suriname to promote the island. This was reported in the Surinaams Dagblad.

“In 2013 we had 12.000 visitors from Suriname in Curacao,” De Windt said.

She expects the annual North Sea Jazz Festival and the Carnival season to attract many visitors. According to De Windt it is therefore important that tourists receive this information in a timely and proper manner. She adds that makes the journey time of only two and a half hours and the ability to speak the Dutch language makes Curaçao an attractive destination for Surinamese.

There were fifteen hotel's representatives of Curacao present and also some travel agents. Additionally chefs Adriyel Lourens and Jethro Wirht made a special dinner. The day ended with a Curacao Antillian party with music by Grupo Sazon.
