Blog: Curaçao – The hottest Caribbean Island you haven’t heard of

But you're about to. And you're welcome.

PartyWe’re letting the secret out about this little island in the South Caribbean. Why? Because we like you. For years, only travelers in the know have been vacationing here, but this place is just getting too good not to share. Here’s why you need to go:

Amazing Day Drinking and Beach Parties

With clubs comparable to those in Ibiza, beautiful people everywhere, and beautiful white sand, this vacation spot makes for ideal Instagram shots. While we consider this island still relatively undiscovered by tourists, the party scene is, quite simply, perfect.

The best places to party on the island include but aren’t limited to Zanzibar, Mambo Beach, Bermuda, and Wet & Wild Beach Club. You’ll dance in the sand while DJs play everything from dubstep to reggaeton while sipping on Amstel Bright, the island’s beer of choice. We recommend trying at least one Piña Colada spiked with Blue Curaçao, as it is the island’s namesake liqueur after all. Locals and visitors like to beach party hop – so you can start by taking in the sunset at Wet & Wild Beach Club, and finish the night just next door at Mambo Beach.

If you’re a fan of day drinking, hotels like Avila Hotel and Papagayo Beach Hotel are the perfect places to post up and spend the day being waited on hand and foot. We hear Avila Hotel is the choice hotel of the Dutch royal family, so you might be able to rub elbows with nobility.

Papagayo sets the trend with their daybeds, DJs, bars and their unbelievably gorgeous infinity pool. Think of it as your own Caribbean Vegas.

Locals-Only Beaches and Non-Stop Adventures

Curaçaoans know they have it good. They love their beaches and spend their beach days right. Take a page out of their books and hit up places like Playa Knip and spend the day working on your tan and exploring the bluest water you’ll ever see. There aren’t many amenities here, so come prepared with a cooler. We hear Polar Beer travels well.

When you’ve had your fill of serene locals-only beaches, take it up a notch and schedule a diving trip out the Sunken Tugboat Site. This is one of the most popular diving and snorkeling sites on the island, so you’ll want to get there early.

If diving and snorkeling isn’t your thing, take an Aquafari instead. You’ll sit in a submarine scooter and explore the ocean floor without having to worry about any crazy breathing techniques – your helmet is completely full of air.

If you’re still feeling adventurous, head to the Sea Aquarium where you can hand-feed sea turtles, sharks and stingrays in their Animal Encounters tank. If that’s not enough, go to the Curaçao Ostrich Farm where you can actually ride an ostrich. With such a wealth of things to do, didn’t we tell you this place was just too good not to share?
