International maritime organization will stay in Curaçao

BalbordaWILLEMSTAD - Curaçao will continue with the cooperation with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the time being. This became clear during the weekly press conference of the Council of Ministers.  An IMO delegation is currently on the island to discuss maritime affairs with the government.

Since 2010, there were several Memorandums of Understandings on the table and had to be concretized, according to Minister Earl Balborda (Transport). That has now happened and IMO will remain on the island for five more years and Balborda believes that is quite an honor. "We must ensure that no country takes that away from us," Balborda said.
